Sub-Conventional Warfare

There has been a general observation that most of the future conflicts will take place in the form of unconventional/ Sub-conventional or low-intensity conflicts. The security forces personnel will continue to perform more of their non-traditional roles and less traditional roles. Conventional warfare is qualitatively different from Sub-Conventional warfare.

Sub-Conventional Warfare

sub-conventional warfare incorporates all forms of armed conflicts that are below the threshold of war but above the level of peace such as insurgency, terrorism, proxy wars to promote a better understanding of the challenging environment in which the role of the army is to operate. A political solution is the only option to counter the insurgency. The military should be the option applied in a calculative manner to avoid the excesses. Most of the countries have applied sub-conventional warfare in the context of large conventional wars to overthrow the foreign governments and to oppose the foreign occupying powers that are unable to defend and control the sovereign territory.
